intervention

Well, according to my brothers, the intervention on their other sister went a bit better than expected. Bro #4 convinced her to come "someone who has helped him and could help her too" after she figured out that they weren't going out to breakfast and got suspicious. She thought it was about the suicidal threats she'd been making. I'll call her Jolene.

Jolene showed up to an office nearby mine, and about 10 of her family members were there (minus me, of course- she feels threatned by me for some reason, so I chose not to go), along with a professional intervention person.

They told stories about her drinking and drug use and where it's gotten her, and asked her to go for drug/alcohol treatment. She was completely blindsided and freaked out like we all thought she would. Crying about her "chronic pain" and such- nobody understands, etc.

Apparently, she refused to go over and over, and finally said OK- that if it's what the family wants, she'll go. So, my bro #1 drove her directly to the airport. Bro #2's wife had bought everything she needed for rehab and it was all ready in a packed bag. Bro #2 drove to Jolene's house to get her PHARMACY of prescription drugs for the rehab place to examine. Jolene's asshole boyfriend was there and HAD A GUN in his hands when bro #2 walked in. My brother pulled the gun out of the asshole's hands, and the asshole was yelling about how he just cost him "20 years".

What asshole meant was that Jolene was going to go to court in a couple of days and recant everything she'd told the State Troopers several months ago, about asshole getting wasted and pulling a gun on her. So, asshole was pissed when he somehow figured out she wasn't coming home, meaning she couldn't testify. Hee!

Anywhoo, bro #2 got the bottles of prescriptions, put them in a Hefty garbage bag (just kidding) to bring to the airport while asshole fled from Jolene's house.

Jolene & bro #1 flew to our state's capital city to a hospital-type substance abuse treatment facility. He left her at the facility and flew home that night.

This all happened on Monday. Last night we had a meeting to discuss the financial matters surrounding this. Apparently, she was coming down off of something while in the airport- jerking movements and mumbling/rambling on and on.

Oh well, she's safe now. I hope she stays. It would be nice to have a relationship with her. Hubby can't stand her, but he didn't know her when she was the "old" Jolene.

So that's what's going on with my family. I think it worked well.
