little boxes....links included in this entry

We went to another couple's...um, property? No- homestead. We visited their homestead on Father's Day for a BBQ. Our kid got filthy with all the dirt that was left over from the recently cleared land. Our friends and their 3 young boys are living in a bus- an old city bus. She's got that sucker decked out like only she could- retro 1950's cute metal & aqua couch, matching pillows, warm curtains to cover the windows & cut down on the light in the evenings & curtained off front & back of the bus to make 2 bedrooms. It looks GREAT, but it didn't used to.

The bus actually belongs to Jupiter, which I have previously discussed in this entry and again more recently in this entry. Whoopee.

Because Jupiter & his wife's friends are freaks, they bought a bus for their bands "tours". And because they are freaks, they didn't think to mention the garbage that filled the bus when they offered it to my friend & her little family to live in while they build their home.

So, my sweet friend, whose husband & kids are counting on this bus to provide them temporary shelter till they finish their home, open the doors to the bus to find piles of carpet strewn all over and....drum roll please... a coffin. Yes, that's right, a COFFIN. Muthafucka!

My poor friend started to cry. Apparently, Jupiter's bandmate (a kid who went to high school with us) was DUMPSTER DIVING and found two empty coffins. He, in all his continual drug-hazed wisdom, figured that those things were expensive and took them. One of them ended up in the bus, and henceforth, gave my friend the shock of her life (no pun intended). She begged Jupiter to take the coffin back with him but he refused, so she & her husband struggled to carry it to the woods where it sits today, partially covered by the piles of crappy indoor-outdoor carpet also pulled from her temporary home on wheels.

She was pretty worried when the electric company guy & the water guy came to the property- what would YOU think seeing a coffin lying in plain view, alongside rolled up carpet?

Now her kids play all over & around the damn thing. Morbid, I tell ya.
